The rear under braces were severely rusted. When I took them off, and attempted to clean the rust off they almost fell apart. I could bend them by hand! Suffice it to say, I don’t think they were offering much toward chassis stiffness! I found some steel pipe at the local hardware store (Lowes) and using a hammer and a vice, was able to get the pipe into the shape of the original stock braces.

The pipe was cut, hammered into shape, and holes drilled in the ends. By repeatedly fitting them, and re-hammering, new braces were made. Old braces vs new braces before painting:
