What the kit contains:
2 x Garnish Film Strips (Left & Right Identical)
1 x 3M Adhesion Promoter
1 x Applicator
Thoroughly clean the surfaces of the plastic scuff plates with methylated spirits.
Treat the surface to be covered only, with the 3M automotive adhesion promoter sponge.
Repeat this for the other side of the car.
Wait one minute for the promoter to evaporate.
Peel of the backing paper, just a few inches and align with the front end of the scuff plate.
Begin to peal the backing paper of as you gently lay the film in place, aligning it as you go. Be careful not to apply any pressure to the film at this time.
Once you are happy that the film is in the correct place, then gently apply pressure from the middle out towards each end, to remove any bubbles.
Begin to apply hard pressure with the applicator, working again from the middle out towards each end. Pay particular attention to the edges and the ends.
When you have completed this and have checked for any bubbles, remove the covering strip, carefully starting at one end and pulling the stripping off.
I found it a good idea to wipe down the film with a soft cloth, applying pressure as I went. If any corners or edges seem to be loose, you can glue them down with impact adhesive or some of the Adhesion Promoter if you have any left.
The finished article, looks good, maybe not quite as good as real Carbon Fibre or a chrome scuff replacement, but an alternative.
