A small mod it may be, but side repeater replacement (for pre-facelift cars) is one of the most effective, and thus popular.
I have just done mine, so decided to take a few pictures to help anyone else looking to do this.
The parts:
* Clear facelift side repeater lenses – £22 from CTP (inc postage & VAT)
* Silver orange flashing bulbs – Ebay, £5
Here is how the lens looked to start with:
To remove the lens, you can either use a flathead screwdriver wrapped in electrical tape, or like I did, just grab the lens and ease it off the plastic clips – the back came out first:
This is the lens so you can see the clips. The bulb holder twists to release the bulb:
Once out, you’ll notice that the original bulb is white – these need to be replaced, otherwise your indicators will (illegally) flash white. I bought silver coated orange bulbs as these avoid the ‘fried egg’ look of having an orange bulb:
Here are the orange and clear lenses together. Once the orange lens is off, you need to remove the rubber seal surround and refit to the new clear lens:
Here is the silver bulb fitted in place and photographed whilst flashing:
Refit the bulb holder into the lens, twist to correct position and then clip new lens unit into the hole. Looks much better now.
Silver bulbs flashing bright orange behind the clear repeater.
A very simple mod – probably 1/10 on the scale and can be done in 10 mins easily.
